October is Spina Bifida awareness month. Kids Club is partnering with the Spina Bifida Association (SBA) for their Adopt a Ghost fundraiser. The mission of SBA is to promote the prevention of Spina Bifida and to enhance the lives of all affected.
Facts about Spina Bifida:
- Spina Bifida is the most common permanently disabling birth defect in the United States.
- SBA estimates that more than 70,000 people in the United States are living with this birth defect.
- Studies have shown that if all women who could become pregnant were to take a multivitamin with the B-vitamin folic acid, the risk of neural tube defects could be reduced by up to 70%.
